How 56Paris helps turn dreams into tangible Parisian homes

At 56Paris Real Estate, we do more than find properties — we guide our clients from initial vision to final transformation. We analyze their goals, identify ideal opportunities, advise them throughout the buying process, and hand over the keys with confidence. But while locating the right apartment in the right location is a matter of deep market knowledge, turning it into a refined and livable space is where the artistry begins.

This is where our trusted network of architects, designers, and craftsmen plays a vital role.

A Pandemic-Era Search Turned Success Story

When Ruchika and Brian, Canadian expatriates living in Japan, began their search for a pied-à-terre in Paris, the world had just entered lockdown. Despite the extraordinary circumstances, they entrusted 56Paris to guide them through the process entirely remotely—a responsibility we took to heart. If you missed their full journey, you can read Ruchika and Brian’s story here.

Their dream was specific: a classic Haussmannian apartment in the heart of the Marais, with both a balcony and elevator. Anyone familiar with this historic neighborhood knows how rare such a property is.

Through our network and on-the-ground insight, we identified a hidden gem — the only Haussmann-era building on their preferred street, available just before hitting the open market. We ensured Ruchika and Brian fully understood both the strengths and limitations of the property, enabling them to confidently move forward — even buying sight unseen.

Partnering with a Master of Transformation

To bring their vision to life, we introduced the couple to one of our trusted architects — a Rome Prize and Fulbright Fellow — whose work seamlessly bridges historic integrity and modern living. With deep knowledge of Parisian architecture and a sensitivity to each client’s lifestyle, he was the perfect match.

The apartment had suffered from an earlier renovation that erased much of its original character. The layout was disjointed and many period features, including the fireplaces and parquet floors, had been lost. But the potential was there.

Our architect painstakingly reintroduced the soul of the apartment: sourcing antique herringbone wood floors, restoring a marble fireplace, and crafting traditional millwork. He also integrated discreet modern comforts, such as a high-end kitchen and spa-quality bathrooms.

Drawing on Ruchika and Brian’s years in Japan, he wove in subtle Japanese design elements — including a tatami area in the bedroom and kintsugi-inspired tiles — blending their personal story into the design.

Distance Was No Obstacle

Throughout the renovation, the couple remained fully involved — despite being thousands of kilometers away. Thanks to regular video calls and digital collaboration tools, decisions were made smoothly and confidently. As our architect noted, working with international clients has become second nature in today’s globalized, post-pandemic world.

A Parisian Home, Reimagined

The result? A luminous and serene retreat that balances Haussmannian elegance with a uniquely personal touch. It’s a space that reflects not only Parisian heritage but also the journey and identity of its new owners.
