The Left Bank has a new buzz thanks to the J.K. Place hotel Paris opening.

Set to make a splash after the holidays, its location on this side of the river is just one of the property’s standout features.

We take a look at one of the newest, chicest places to stay in Paris.

A first for France

J.K. Place Rive Gauche is the first J.K Place outside of Italy. It joins sister properties in Rome, Capri and Florence. Together, they are among the finest high-end boutique hotels anywhere in the world.

But as the name suggests, the Paris hotel is located on the Rive Gauche or ‘Left Bank.’ It’s a location that initially raised a few eyebrows.

With the exception of the famed Hôtel Lutetia, luxury hotels are traditionally located on the Rive Droite, or ‘Right Bank.’

Although noticeably smaller with just 29 bedrooms, it certainly gives the J.K. Place prominence in the landscape of luxury Parisian hotels.

40 million euros for the J.K. Place hotel Paris opening

This new Paris hotel is not just beautiful. It has substance too.

Designed by Michele Bonan, a renowned Florentine architect, it’s a marriage of Italian DNA with chic French style.

With a total budget of 40 million euros, he has sourced bespoke Italian furniture and objets d’art. They sit alongside antiques from famous Paris flea markets, such as the Marche des Puces.

You’ll find these gems dotted throughout the property’s 29 bedrooms. Each one is eclectic and distinctly different, but all offer king-size beds and decadent marble-clad en suite baths.

The hotel also boasts several inviting public rooms including the library-style reception, a restaurant, bar, gymnasium, spa, and an inviting marble-lined swimming pool.

The overall effect is stunning. This hotel certainly delivers the opulence expected of the beau monde clientele.

Bursting with history

The J.K. Place team spent over five years finding the perfect building and location.

Their choice is the former European Consulate in the Carré Rive Gauche, the antique dealers’ neighborhood.

It’s here you’ll find the greatest number of antique stores and galleries in the city.

In the heart of the 7th arrondissement (district), this corner of Paris has long had an allure and charm. It’s bursting with history, very close to the Seine, and just a stone’s throw away from the Musée d’Orsay. It is also home to the 56Paris Real Estate offices.

Boutique Casa Tua dining, another first

There is more to this hotel than luxury rooms and a unique location. The J.K. Place Rive Gauche also houses its own Casa Tua restaurant.

This exclusive eatery is one of the most famous in Miami Beach, Florida, along with an outpost in Aspen. But now, Paris has a Casa Tua of its very own.

Sophisticated yet simple, the culinary focus is on Northern Italian cuisine. Dishes include homemade burrata with tomatoes, and tagliolini with caviar and crème fraiche.

The restaurant itself is a low-key, softly lit space designed as a Mediterranean beach house.

Both the food and ambiance are a perfect match for the property’s Italian heart. A different ambiance than the Michelin-starred establishments normally found in Paris luxury hotels.

All in all, the J.K Place Rive Gauche is a welcome addition to the Left Bank. We’ll be watching with interest as the doors open in January 2020.
